well. And his "America" books have called them to citizenship. With a team of talented and acclaimed
illustrators as partners, Devin's unique style of storytelling empowers children to feel proud of their heritage.
His patriotic alphabet book A is for America has become a staple in classrooms, libraries, and children's
nightstands. Published by Sleeping Bear Press, the book has

Cosmo's Moon
Illustrated by Mark Braught (Sleeping Bear Press, 2003)
A magical book about how one charming boy's friendship with the moon taught him (and the moon) the value of responsibility.
Cosmo loved the moon. He had moon pajamas and a moon nightlight and stars and moons all over his bedroom. Every night, Cosmo's mother and father gave him a hug and a kiss and tucked him into his bed. But just as soon as they closed his bedroom door, he threw aside the covers, ran to the open window, and watched as the golden moon came into the night sky just above the sycamore tree. And as a gentle night breeze blew across the curtains, Cosmo would talk and the moon would listen.
"A very sweet story about friendship and responsibility."
— LOUISVILLE COURIER
"Truly an imaginative tale, Cosmo's Moon is perfect for bedtime and likely to be cherished (and even believed) by many young moon-gazers."

Fibblestax
Illustrated by K.D. Darnell (Sleeping Bear Press, 2000)
Fibblestax is an amusing and thought-provoking tale of the creative wordsmith who gives everything in our world its name.
I dreamed again of Fibblestax, sitting among his books
Peering into the candlelight with a calm, thoughtful look.
For he's the one who gives a name to every single thing.
If not for him we couldn't talk. Or read, or write, or sing.
"...a beautiful children's book with a lovely story..."
"A great book for teachers, parents, and, of course, kids."
— BOOK SENSE
"...a charming fable..."

One Nation: America by the Numbers
Illustrated by Pam Carroll (Sleeping Bear Press, 2002)
Far from the usual counting book, One Nation illuminates the landmarks and treasures that are uniquely American.
For FIFTEEN years, they drew up their plans,
Constructed her torch and polished her hands.
They built her, then broke her, then placed her in crates,
And shipped her from France to the United States.
It took FIFTEEN years, but she stands there today,
Our Lady of Liberty, lighting the way.

S is for Sooner: An Oklahoma Alphabet
Illustrated by Kandy Radzinksi (Sleeping Bear Press, 2003)
Devin's love letter to Oklahoma, the book chronicles all of the people and places that make up the rich tapestry of the Sooner State.
A finalist for the Oklahoma Book Award.
"So what's a Sooner?" you may ask. Well, in 1889,
Settlers waited for the signal to leave the starting line.
They raced to claim their land without a boundary or fence.
Some were sooner than others, and they've been Sooners ever since.
